Dry pit submersible pumps, unlike traditional submersibles, can operate both above and below the fluid level. They are designed for dewatering areas prone to occasional flooding. Unlike standard submersibles that would overheat in such conditions, dry pit pumps have their motor housing filled with cooling oil.
